Call for Proposals
Session proposal submission deadline – July 1st

This year the theme of our Annual Conference will be Preserve. Innovate. Connect. This conference, held in historic St. Joseph, Missouri, will explore the ways Missouri’s museums and archives are serving and reaching out to their audiences through preservation and exhibition. We would like to hear from you!

Individuals from the museums/archives and related supporting communities who would like to present at this dynamic and friendly conference are invited to submit proposals. Each session proposal should in some way touch on the themes of preservation, innovation, and/or connecting with audiences.

We encourage you to seek out people from other institutions to collaborate on a panel. Possible session
topics include, but are not limited to: merging cultures, community and partnership building, conservation / preservation, educational programs, excellence in exhibit design, and evaluation.

Sessions may be 30 or 60 minutes.

Attendees are welcome to begin exploring St. Joseph Thursday, October 20th. Conference attendees who wish to explore Northwest Missouri will receive free passes to our member museums for Thursday through Sunday. Join us for a tour of the St. Joseph Museums, including the Glore Psychiatric Museum at 3406 Frederick Avenue Friday at 10:30 am. An opening luncheon reception will be hosted at the Albrecht-Kemper Museum of Art beginning at 11:30. Please RSVP. After a morning exploring, sessions will begin on Friday, October 21st, at the Remington Nature Center at 1:00 in the afternoon. Conference attendees will get an exclusive showing of the innovative living history production “Voices of Mt. Mora: Cemetery Tours,” which will begin at the Wyeth-Tootle Mansion at 5:30. Afterwards, explore downtown St. Joseph, but don’t stay out too late! Sessions resume at 9:00 am at the Pony Express Museum. Lunch will be at noon, followed by the Keynote Speaker at 1:00 on Saturday. 

The deadline for submission is Wednesday, July 1st, 2016. We invite individuals to submit proposals electronically to Sara Wilson at: sara@stjosephmuseum.org. (Proposals may also be sent by mail to MAMA, P.O. Box 533, Jefferson City, MO 65102.)
