Promotional Funding for Civil War-Related Events in Missouri
2011 marks the beginning of the sesquicentennial commemoration of Missouri’s rich and storied history in the Civil War.
The Division of Tourism is pleased to announce that applications for the funding of Civil War 150 marketing projects will be accepted beginning Jan. 12, 2011 through 5 pm on Feb. 3, 2011. This new program, “Civil War 150 Promotion Program” provides matching funds for performance-based marketing projects that are design to increase exposure and attendance of Missouri Civil War sites and sesquicentennial events and attractions.
This program is being coordinated in partnership with the Missouri Civil War Sesquicentennial Commission. The Mission of the Commission comes directly from Executive Order 10-20 and includes the following “…to increase awareness and understanding of Missouri’s role in the Civil War; to encourage civic, historical, educational, economic and other entities throughout Missouri to organize and participate in activities to commemorate the Sesquicentennial of the Civil War, and to foster an inclusive spirit of reconciliation that appropriately recognizes the experiences and points of view of all people affected by the Civil War and
its aftermath.“ We encourage applicants to keep this mission in mind
when submitting proposals.
