Two Part-Time Museum Assistant Positions open at Powers Museum – Carthage, MO

PART-TIME MUSEUM ASSISTANTS

Powers Museum is seeking resumes and letters of interest from potential candidates for two part-time positions at the Powers Museum. Training period to begin in early March prior to public re-opening of the museum March 28, 2015.

Deadline to submit materials is February 12 (midnight CST).

Positions require Saturday work (every other week April-early Nov.), alternate monthly Sunday afternoon program/open house (April-Nov.1), and one off-site evening program per month (April-October).

These positions will be the face of the Powers Museum after the retirement of its long-time Director (who will be volunteering for special projects and coordinating on-going collections management work on a part-time basis). During this transition period, ideal candidates must be flexible and understanding as the board of this non-profit, educational museum works through this organizational change.

NOTE: Hours of the two positions will NOT be combined into one position. New hires subject to background check.

 

Instructions to Apply for either Job

3. Also answer the following questions in your email.

A) In your opinion, if a tourist visiting the museum asked you if they could only visit one other Carthage MO attraction, what would you suggest to them and why.

B) If a visitor commented that his/her great-grandmother used to live in Carthage and asked if he/she could find out where that might have been, what resource(s) at the museum would you use to assist visitor in finding that information.

C) State if you are available during late afternoons (after 4pm) or early evenings (prior to 8 pm) and/or Saturdays for interviews once candidates have been narrowed down. Anticipated interviews would be done prior to or on February 28. Training would begin March 12.
