Advocacy

Have no fear. Advocacy is not always lobbying. It usually entails providing information. For example, you can create an Economic Impact Statement for your museum that lets your legislator or local official understand how much of an impact your museum on the economy.

If this is new to you, there are great resources to help you learn. Check out AAM training and tips (no cost).

Learn to talk to your legislators and other officials regarding funding and other key issues.

Get informed on the possibility of Federal Formula Grants to the states for Museums and for Archives.
