MAMA Annual Meeting

October 21-22, 2016

St. Joseph, MO

This year the theme of our Annual Conference is Preserve. Innovate. Connect.  This conference, held in historic St. Joseph, Missouri, will explore the ways Missouri’s museums and archives are serving and reaching out to their audiences through preservation and exhibition.  The meeting is in association with the Missouri Humanities Council.

Keynote speaker: Cheptoo Kositany-Buckner, Executive Director, American Jazz Museum

Attendees are welcome to begin exploring St. Joseph Thursday, October 20th.  Conference attendees who wish to explore Northwest Missouri will receive free passes to our member museums for Thursday through Sunday.  Missouri State Archives is offering a free pre-conference workshop:Ensuring Access Through Dynamic Reference, on Thursday.  Join us for a tour of the St. Joseph Museums, including the Glore Psychiatric Museum, at 3406 Frederick Avenue, Friday at 10:30 am.  An opening luncheon reception will be hosted at the Albrecht-Kemper Museum of Art beginning at 11:30.  Please RSVP on your registration.  After a morning exploring, sessions will begin on Friday, October 21st, at the Remington Nature Center, at 1:00 pm.  Conference attendees will get an exclusive showing of the innovative living history production “Voices of Mt. Mora: Cemetery Tours,” which will begin at the Wyeth-Tootle Mansion at 6:00.  Afterwards, explore downtown St. Joseph, but don’t stay out too late!  Sessions resume at 9:00 am at the Pony Express Museum on Saturday.  Lunch will be at noon, followed by the keynote speaker.
